How it happened
We’ve all heard of fairytale schooltime romances with fairytale endings, haven’t we? This one is rather special. Jessica and Nathan met waaay back in 2007 at a school party and have now been together for seven years this year. They started to build a life together and four years later, just a few days after they settled into their new house together, Nathan proposed. That was Christmas 2007 Two years later they got married.
The wedding day
Jessica and the girls spent the morning at her Mum & Dads place with her sisters Alicia and Natalie.
Nathan and the boys Daniel and Dean were able to lord it up a bit at the Stamford Plaza.
The ceremony was held at St Stephens Cathedral in Elizabeth Street Brisbane, one of Brisbane’s grandest structures. This venue has a background that complements a bride any way that you can look. We have the sculptured sandstone blocks of the building itself, set against a backdrop of Brisbane’s modern glass and steel buildings. Just across the street is the Brisbane General Post Office or GPO as it’s fondly called by the locals with once again, sandstone and arches and a grand old look.
The Brisbane Polo Club A short walk of about a block from The Cathedral is another Brisbane icon, the Polo Club. The club provides an elegant and classic setting for unforgettable weddings. Built in 1889, Naldham House, has undergone meticulous refurbishment to National Trust standards. Step inside and you will discover high panelled ceilings, cedar fittings, a grand timber staircase, antique furniture and leather bound chairs. Shanna Malcolm, the wedding events coordinator is always happy to look after the Bride & Grooms every wish. It was at the Brisbane Polo Club that years and years ago we photographed our first “engagement party that turned into a wedding” event.
In Jessica’s own words…………… “The honeymoon in Thailand on Phi Phi Island. was absolutely amazing. After spending so much time organising a wedding it was beautiful to just relax and sip cocktails (or mocktails) on the beach!”
Mocktails instead of cocktails?
I think we should let Jessica and Nathan themselves tell you the next part of the fairytale.
